After split trial verdict, Oakland man gets 11 years, 8 months in 2019 fatal shooting

OAKLAND — An Oakland man who was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter has been sentenced to 11 years and eight months behind bars for killing an El Cerrito man in 2019, court records show.Jevanni Knight, 26, argued in his July trial that he shot and killed 41-year-old Michael Sadberry as Sadberry attacked Knight’s childhood friend. He was transferred to North Kern State Prison on Sept. 15, and will be eligible for parole in April 2028, according to prison records.Jurors convicted Knight of voluntary manslaughter and illegal gun possession, but acquitted him of second degree murder, court records show. Fire near Castro District in SF under control

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Firefighters responding to a one-alarm fire near the Castro District have brought the blaze under control, according to a tweet from the San Francisco Fire Department. The blaze was located in what looks like a residential structure located at 255 Hartford Street. Body found in suitcase floating in Lake Merritt Tuesday Video from the scene shows several firefighters at the scene and a ladder truck on the street. In a subsequent tweet, SFFD identified the blaze as an electrical fire and said it was under control.
