NEW YORK (AP) — Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders has counted the ways to success. The Gallery Books imprint 13a announced Tuesday that Sanders’ “Elevate and Dominate: 21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field,” will come out March 12, 2024. The NFL and college football Hall of Famer, now head coach of college’s Colorado Buffaloes, will draw upon his own experience in offering guidelines for life and work.“Success isn’t just about what you achieve between the lines on game day or stacking up money that you may never get to fully enjoy. It’s about winning in ALL ASPECTS of life,” Sanders said in a statement. “From the mindset you cultivate, the discipline you uphold, and your faith in God – champions aren’t born; they’re made, day by day, choice by choice and decision by decision. You’ve got to BE CONSISTENT and BELIEVE every darn step of the way.”Sanders is also the author of a memoir, “Power, Money & Sex: How Success Almost Ruined My Life,” which came out in 1999.SourceRite Aid’s bankruptcy plan stirs worries of new ‘pharmacy deserts’

Rite Aid’s plan to close more stores as part of its bankruptcy process could hurt access to medicine and care, particularly in some majority Black and Hispanic neighborhoods and in rural areas, experts say.The drugstore chain said late Sunday that its voluntary Chapter 11 process will allow it to speed up its plan to close underperforming stores. The company runs more than 2,000 stores, mostly on the East and West coasts. It said it doesn’t know yet which ones will close, but The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the company has proposed closing 400 to 500 of them. When drugstore chains shutter stores, they often target locations in lower-income, Black and Latinx neighborhoods with people covered through government-funded insurance programs like Medicaid, said Dima Qato, a University of Southern California associate professor who studies pharmacy access.“They tend to close in these neighborhoods regardless of whether or not there is another pharmacy nearby,” Qato said.Rite ...College athlete shoe deals in NIL era get stepped on by lucrative school contracts with big brands

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Harper Murray puts on her Adidas volleyball shoes when she practices or plays in a match for Nebraska, one of the top teams in the country. It’s not necessarily the brand she would choose; it’s because the German company is her school’s official supplier and athletes, coaches and staff are required to wear its products. Texas’s Reilly Heinrich and Virginia’s Ashley Le wear Nikes because their schools are under contract with the shoe giant. Heinrich actually wears basketball shoes bearing the familiar swoosh because she says they fit better than Nike’s volleyball shoes. All three also are brand ambassadors for a new volleyball shoe brand, Avoli, which they promote on social media platforms as part of their name, image and likeness compensation deals with the startup based in Portland, Oregon, also the hometown of Nike. The three can tout Avoli all they want, but it is highly unlikely they will ever wear the brand when they actual...Anthony Richardson ‘probably going to be gone for the year,’ Colts owner says as QB mulls surgery

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay believes rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson may need season-ending surgery on his injured throwing shoulder.Irsay told ESPN that Richardson and the team’s medical staff were still mulling treatment options for Richardson’s sprained AC joint but a final decision had not been made — reiterating comments made earlier Monday by coach Shane Steichen.“The most likelihood is he’s probably going to be gone for the year,” Irsay said. “I mean, it’s not definite but (he) probably misses this year and we’re going to have to contend with that factor.”Steichen did not speculate on which route Richardson and the Colts (3-3) would go.Instead, Steichen said discussions were ongoing as team officials continued to gather information about the injury and all potential treatments including season-ending surgery. Steichen, like Irsay, also acknowledged Richardson’s long-term health and the franchise’s long-term future...AP midseason report: Biggest surprise, disappointment, Heisman favorite and top coach so far

Halfway through the 2023 season, the national championship race feels more wide open than it has been in years. But is it really? “I think I would say if there was a 12-team playoff this year, it would be tremendous,” Fox analyst and former Washington quarterback Brock Huard said. That will have to until 2024. For now, the College Football Playoff is still a four-team bracket (and the first rankings are coming up on Oct. 31).The CFP era has been mostly dominated by super teams. An exclusive group of programs have had a realistic shot at winning a national title. Five teams have split up the nine CFP championships: Alabama has three, Clemson and Georgia have 2 each and LSU and Ohio State each have one.Coming into this year it looked like defending national champion Georgia and Michigan, coming off two straight playoff appearances, would be a cut above the rest with the usual suspects of Ohio State and Alabama closest behind. With half the season in the books, No. 1 Georgia and No....North Dakota Gov. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum called a special session Tuesday of the Republican-controlled Legislature to address a major budget bill struck down by the state Supreme Court last month, leaving a giant hole in state government operations lawmakers are rushing to fill. The special session will convene Monday. Burgum’s executive order for the session comes after the court ruled last week that it won’t delay its surprising Sept. 28 decision that invalidated the funding bill for the state Office of Management and Budget. The bill, usually the last one passed in the biennial session, is traditionally used as a catchall or cleanup bill. The court said the bill is unconstitutional because it violates the state Constitution’s single-subject requirement for bills.Republican Senate Majority Leader David Hogue has said the Legislature would convene for a three- to five-day session. A top panel of lawmakers was meeting Tuesday to address plans for the sessi...Live updates | Intense bombardments strike in southern Gaza as the war rages on
