Loveland Ski Area begins making snow for ski season

DENVER (KDVR) -- Ski season is a little less than a month out and Loveland Ski Area is starting early with some early October snowmaking. Starting early Tuesday at 12:30 a.m., Loveland fired up the snow guns on the Home Run trail. This is the first manmade snow of the year for Loveland. The area already had an inch of natural snow. Condé Nast Traveler names Colorado ski resort as best in nation Loveland started snowmaking over a week early this year. For the 2022-2023 season, the area started up the snow guns on Oct. 12. “It’s starting to look and feel like winter at Loveland,” said Rob Goodell, COO in a press release. “Our snowmaking team capitalized on the cold weather, and we’re off to a great start. The forecast is calling for cold temperatures through the week, and we will make snow as conditions permit. DENVER (KDVR) — On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at approximately 12:20 p.m., two odd-sounding national alerts will go off on all TVs, radios and phones.This is only a test. The messages are part of a nationwide test conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission.The point of these alerts is to test out the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency System. No more warnings: Drive over the line, pay the fine The alert will only last a minute on the radio, television broadcasts, cable systems, satellite radio, television providers and wireline video providers. The message will read:“This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. A South Florida high school was placed on lockdown after two armed juveniles were reported by their mother. Miami-Dade Police and Miami-Dade Schools Police arrived at the scene at Miami Central High School, located at 1781 NW 95th St., Tuesday afternoon. 7Skyforce hovered over the school where around 20 officers were seen with long guns as they searched for the juveniles. According to officials, the armed subjects are known juvenile delinquents who are wanted. The mother of the teens told 7News she called police and told officers her two sons were armed and on the loose. She was seen talking to officers at the school. Students at the school were dismissed before the lockdown but after school activities were being held. “Sketchy. (CNN) — At least 21 people were killed when a passenger bus plunged from a bridge in Mestre, Italy, near Venice on Tuesday, according to Italian authorities speaking to local media, in what has been described as an “apocalyptic scene.”The bus was traveling from Venice to nearby Marghera and was “full of people returning home from work,” Venice mayor Luigi Brugnaro told state media RAI.“It completely went off the road, it flew off the bridge. A teenager has been arrested in connection with an incident aboard a MBTA Red Line train where police said several juvenile males harassed, threatened to rob and taunted passengers allegedly based on their ethnicity, the MBTA Transit Police announced. The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Sept. 21 on a train near JFK/UMass station. Police said the juveniles eventually smashed out a train window and fled the scene. Police last month said detectives were actively investigating the incident and said charges would be sought. A matter of weeks later, transit police said detectives and officers arrested a 16-year-old at Forest Hills station on Monday on charges of assault to rob-unarmed, and assault for the purpose of intimidation.
